The problem
Film and TV researchers and serious fans needed to find and discuss lines of dialogue across a huge catalog. Keyword search misses lines phrased differently, meaning-based search misses exact quotes, and a plain chatbot invents scenes it can't cite.
What we built
- A searchable corpus of 500,000+ lines of movie and TV dialogue from captions, plus TV Tropes data
- Hybrid search that combines meaning-based matching with exact keyword ranking, so both paraphrases and precise quotes come back
- A chat interface that answers with real references from the corpus instead of the model's memory
- Google and email sign-in, a usage panel, and three Stripe plans from 100,000 to 2 million words a month
- An admin panel and a WordPress landing page
The result
On phrase searches, the right line appears in the top 10 results 92% of the time, compared with 68% for keyword search alone.
