The problem
Parents wanted screen time that felt more like bedtime stories than games. The founder's idea: a child talks to the app for a minute, and the app tells back a story built around what they said. It had to feel magical for kids, safe for them, and simple enough for parents to trust and pay for.
Speak, dream, listen
The child talks, Palinoo asks a few playful questions, and a story starring the child comes back as narrated audio.
What we built
- A voice chat that asks a few playful questions and turns the answers into a personalized story with Claude
- Natural narration with ElevenLabs, plus branching stories where the child picks what happens next
- Saved stories for replay, so favorites become part of the bedtime routine
- Stripe subscriptions for parent plans and virtual coins for extra stories
- Content guardrails and GDPR consent controls built for a product used by children
Free fantasy or a story with a message
Let the child's imagination lead, or pick stories that carry a gentle lesson.
Built for families
Voice recordings are never stored, there are no ads, and account data stays in European data centers.
The result
Palinoo was nominated for TOMMI 2026, the German children's software award, in two categories: Apps and Best Family Game (Preschool). The nominees were announced by TOMMI and featured in Dein SPIEGEL's overview.
